Aquifer Testing
Pumping tests are a common approach used by hydrogeologists to test aquifers. They are done by stimulating the aquifer and measuring the aquifer’s response. The objective of a pumping test is to test the production capability and calculate aquifer hydraulic properties such as transmissivity, storativity and hydraulic boundaries.
Pumping Test
An applicant who proposes to extract large volumes of groundwater from a bore or water supply work may be required to carry out a pumping test. The department requires this for assessing the application.
Overall Drilling is equipped with an inventory of 3-6" submersibles able to test flows from 0.5 - 30 L/sec. Our pump testing trailer has been designed to minimize manual handling and increase efficiency and safety when deploying the pump in the bore. The trailer has a hydraulic poly reel, equipped with poly pipe and submersible cable and two 6" submersibles controlled by a variable speed drive. Ultrasonic flow meters with data logging capabilities are used to record flow rates at nominated increments. Overall Drilling uses Solinst equipment for the data logging of water atmospheric pressure levels throughout the testing.
We have the equipment and personnel capable of completing high volume testing wether that be 24, 48 ,72 or 7 day tests.
